Genesis

Launched in 1900s, the house of BHARANY'S is a treasure-trove for every art lover, connoisseur and critic in the world. It presents a wider variety of Indian art ranging from Jewellery to royal Textiles, and Curios.

Founded by Mr. R.K. Bharany, referred to as "The Grand Old man from Amritsar" by famous Indian art critic Mr. Karl Khandalavala. This family run enterprise is today in its third generation.

R.K Bharany acquired art objects and textiles extensively, as a result, he was referred in almost all art books by eminent art historians such as A.K. Coomaraswamy, M.S. Randhawa and K.J. Khandalavala. He had an eye of an aesthetic, keen interest and inborn passion for collecting old textiles. A gold medal for his unique collection at an Exhibition held in Calcutta in 1906 was awarded.

His son C.L. Bharany, inherited his father's intuition and passion for collecting arts though in wider varieties, and promoted the business from Calcutta's Great Eastern Hotel in 1950 and then later from Oberoi Grand Hotel.

His valued art pieces were often borrowed from his personal collection by the Government of India to be displayed at different Festivals of India held in Paris, London, Russia, Washington DC, San Francisco (U.S.A) and Japan.

He later shifted his showroom to his present place- 14, Sundar Nagar Market at New Delhi in the year 1962. Since then, he along with his two talented sons: Ramji and Mahesh Bharany run this enterprise very successfully.

C.L. Bharany has a great passion for collecting wider variety of arts: Wooden Artefacts, Tribal art pieces, variety of Textiles, shawls, robes (Chogas) etc.. Besides, being a connoisseur of art, Mr. Bharany is a renowned author as well, having written several books on Indian art, poetry, philosophy, mythology and novels. He has also written, produced and directed plays.

Presently, housing an exquisite and inest collection of traditional Mughal style jewellery and old textiles BHARANY'S is a name to reckon with. They have been actively involved in reviving and promoting the majestic legacy of Indian art.

Intricate jewellery items crafted with great fineese and designed by Ramji Bharany and Mahesh Bharany, who like their father and grandfather have a great flair for jewellery, art and curios. Ramji has studied Gemmology from New York and London where as Mahesh has graduated from ULCA, USA.
